Site under development in the meantime:
Loburn Trees nursery has a selection of trees suited to North Canterbury conditions growing in root control bags. These bags prevent spiralling roots and encourage a tight rootball ideal for planting in Loburn’s heavy Mairaki soils. The root balls are also shallow to match the shallow topsoils around Loburn, Sefton and Balcairn, because trees planted into deep holes are at risk of drowning in an extended wet period, but of course if you have free draining or deeper soils then that’s no problem either.
While the root-balls are small compared to conventional ‘big trees’ much of the stock will require careful transport, planting and secure staking, all of which we can arrange.
All fruit trees are organic/spray free varieties and includes apples, plums, quince, peach, cherries and nectarine. For more information on varieties available, their characteristics and requirements visit the Fruiting Plants page
Most of the ornamental and specimen trees are deciduous and have a demonstrated ability to withstand North Canterbury conditions, with a little thought to planting sites. They are grouped according to, deciduous, conifers, evergreen and native. The core species groups are alders, ash, birch, cedars, cypresses, ginkgo, hornbeam, ironwood, larch, maples, oaks, redwoods and tulip poplar. However this is not exhaustive and if we don’t have what you want, we can get it in.
